Puerto Rican Parrots
Amazona vittata

It is estimated that there are less than 50 Puerto Rican Parrots left in the wild. Their considerable population decline is directly linked to the rise in human population. The biggest threat to them is habitat loss, as their forest habitat has been cut down for timber and charcoal and utilised now for agriculture. These parrots have lived in the forests of Puerto Rico for hundreds of years, but the destructive behaviours of humans has impacted their survival.
